Evolutionary Anthropologist Dr. Jenny Tung, Associate Professor at Duke University and Affiliate Member of the UBC Social Exposome Cluster was recently awarded a $625,000 USD MacArthur Foundation Fellowship. This highly prestigious award recognizes Dr. Tung's desire to understand how social and environmental adlversity affects the health and survival. She has built a treasure trove of data from studying baboons as part of the Amboseli Baboon Research Project in Kenya. She is now seeking to expand her findings to include the effects of social status and health on other animals such as rhesus macaques and meerkats. This award follows her Sloan Fellowship in 2016 and her being named as one of "Ten Scientists to Watch" last year. Follow this link for more information about Dr. Tung's work and accomplishments.
